1970 Triumph TR6 Tiger 650Patina Restoration. “Champion Sparkplug Red”

Well documented full motor restoration and overhaul. Four speed manual, shifter on the RIGHT.

Numbers match. Clean Michigan title. Engine was rebuilt and balanced by Ken Lanoo, Detroit-based Triumph mechanic who worked on the record setting Bonneville land speed bike, the Gyronaut. Little to no cosmetic restorations. So the tears in the seat, and faded paint from the 70’s. (new) Dunlop K70’s all stay. This is the most reliable vintage Triumph I have ever ridden.

Extremely dependable. Runs and stops strong. If you are looking for a classic bike with some character, that has been selectively updated with modern components including:

-Boyer Brandson Electronic ignition

-Balanced crankshaft

-New pistons

-New piston rings

-Black diamond valves

-New oil pump

-All new engine bearings and wheel bearings.

-Cleaned out sludge trap properly.

-Tympanium regulator

-Battery eliminator capacitor-New Battery

-Burnett Clutch

-New Speedometer Gear

-Frame is straight. original paint.

-New fabric woven wiring harness.

-New steering bearings

Cylinders were cut to +0.20 over. This bike barely vibrates for what it is due to the balanced crankshaft. This bike is not and oil in frame. Original tank. Drum brakes stop firmly and confidently thanks to Vintage Brake in California. The zener diode is not needed so it is merely decorative. It remains however to keep period correct. Cables are in great shape. Carb was fully rebuilt last year. New fork seals 2 years ago. Oil changed annually. Tires are like new Dunlop K70’s. 3 years old.

Dependable electronics due to Tympanium regulator being installed. Has battery eliminator capacitor. New battery last fall for extra confidence and safety for leaving headlight on at night running or not. Mileage is approximate. Smith gagues work but the mile counter had broken and been replaced. Actual mileage was approximately 9500 miles and then overhauled. I have since put about 2800 miles on this bike. You could ride it home.

Restoration was slow but it was completed in 2012 and slowly improved while being ridden lightly over the years.I bought this bike in the year 2000. When I got it the motor was stuck and I decided to overhaul the engine. Most of the work was done by myself and a notable triumph mechanic based in Detroit. Clean gas tank inside and out, no dents but it is weathered and used.

The bad:-The mileage counter is broken or jammed, I have not tried to mess with this at all, also the tach needle had broken off but it still works.-The horn is not original but I have the original horn and I will include it. The headlight ring has a scrape on it but it came from a friend after the original was stepped on accidentally. This bike will "mark its territory" with oil like all old brit bikes do, no liquid gasket was used when joining the bottom end because that looks bad, IMO.

video of the bike being started. Granted this is a warm start, FYI. https://vimeo.com/419418015

Much more done to the bike that hasn’t been listed. Perfect amount of ratty-ness in my opinion. The patina actually comes from age and isn’t simulated. some spare parts will be included. 2 keys. let me know if you have any questions I would be happy to answer them in detail. you won't be disappointed with this bike. thanks for looking and have a great day. twotoosdetroit@gmail.com

- Wheel chrome is in good condition.
